Environmental care is self care. In collaboration with wellness driven community partners, this workshop series is designed to foster the connection between personal care and care for the planet.

 ECOSYSTEMS FAQs

  • Each workshop includes a beginner friendly Yoga practice led by TMI faculty member Anabelle followed by environmental education and community connection time. By the end of each workshop you will have a better understanding how to care for the environment and organizations you can connect with.

  • December 20th Location: Toledo Mindfulness Institute featuring Keep Toledo Lucas County Beautiful. Theme: ETHER.

    Explore the interconnectedness of breath, body, and nature through mindful movement and reflection. This session invites participants to consider how environmental and public health are deeply intertwined.

    January 17th, 2026 Location: Glass City Enrichment Center, Featuring Toledo Mindfulness Institute and Amy Stone from OSU Extension. Theme: FIRE

    This session will explore how soil connects all life and how returning nutrients to the earth through composting can support healthier ecosystems, communities, and minds.

    February 21, 2026 Location: National Museum of the Great Lakes with Sara Guiher, Ohio Sea Grant
    Theme: Water
    Dive into the role water plays in our health, environment, and community. Learn about local water systems, pollution prevention, and how to align personal mindfulness with water stewardship.

    March 21, 2026 Location: Toledo Mindfulness Institute (Presenter TBD)
    Theme: Community

    Learn about native plants used for food, medicine, and reflect on how ancestral wisdom can guide our modern relationship with the Earth. 

    April 18, 2026 Location: Willys Park with Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful
    Theme: Air

    Enjoy gentle movement in the fresh spring air before joining a community litter cleanup. This session focuses on building awareness of our daily habits and how small actions can empower us to care for both ourselves and our surroundings.

    May 16, 2026 Location TBD with Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful
    Theme: Earth

    Reconnect with the land through a grounding yoga flow followed by a community tree planting. Learn about the vital role trees play in our environment and how planting them is an act of resilience and hope.

  • That’s no problem! When you register it will ask for a rough estimate of the ones you’ll be attending. Still register and join for what you can!

  • Yoga mat, water, journal and pen. If you do not have access to a mat please specify that in the registration and we’ll provide one for you!

  • This series is not specifically designed for kiddos, but with that in mind they are welcome! Please use your judgment on if they can hang for a 60 minute yoga class and environmental conversation.
